Power Outage

The ISO manages the flow of electricity across the high-voltage, long-distance transmission lines delivering power to the state’s three investor-owned utilities. The utilities, Pacific, Gas & Electric, San Diego Gas & Electric, and Southern California Edison, are responsible for delivering electricity from the high-voltage transmission lines to its customers. The ISO is a nonprofit public benefit corporation that also operates a competitive wholesale energy market, and conducts transmission planning to identify grid expansion needs.
